Express Entry

Express Entry Canada

 

For anyone looking to settle in Canada permanently, Express Entry has various categories available. Qualified candidates who are ranked using a special points system called the Comprehensive Ranking System can look at all these available options, the most popular being the Express Entry system. Express Entry is one of the more commonly chosen options as it is open to applicants from anywhere in the world.

 

 

Under Express Entry there are three different streams are available:

 

Canadian Federal Skilled Worker Program

 

Applicants need to meet the following criteria to be eligible:

  • At least one year of paid full-time (or the equivalent in part-time continuous work experience) in skill type 0, A or B of the National Occupational Classification (NOC).

  • Language skills: Applicants must take the approved language tests in English or French and meet the minimum language requirements.

  • Applicants are also required to meet the education and age criteria.

Federal Skilled Trades Program Canada

 

The Federal Skilled Trades program provides an excellent opportunity for skilled workers who want to become permanent residents based on their qualifications in a skilled trade:

Applicants need to meet the following criteria to be eligible:

  • Two years of full-time work experience (or an equal amount of part-time work experience) in a skilled trade within the last five years before the application is sent.

  • Plan to live outside the province of Quebec.

  • Meet the required language levels in English or French.

  • Meet the job requirements for that skilled trade as set out in the NOC, except for needing a certificate of qualification.

  • Have an offer of full-time employment for a total period of at least one year.

Canadian Experience Class Program

The Canadian Experience Class program is designed to provide an immigration pathway for skilled foreign workers as well as international students who want to become permanent residents in Canada.

Applicants need to meet the following criteria to be eligible:

  • Have at least 12 months of full-time (or an equivalent amount in part-time) skilled work experience in Canada in the three years before they apply.

  • Have acquired their work experience in Canada with proper work authorization.

  • Meet the required language levels needed for the job position for each language ability (speaking, reading, writing, and listening).

  • Plan to live outside the province of Quebec.
